Amazon will close all 87 pop up stores across the United States this April.
Amazon owns emerging stores inside Whole Food locations, Kohl stores and malls across the United States. Stores allow customers to use Amazon products and services before ordering them.
Amazon decided to discontinue the program and instead expand it to Amazon’s 4-star Amazon Books and Amazon, allowing customers to try some of the 4-star rated products on its sales website.
The company said it will open more Amazon Books stores and trial locations this year. The closure did not affect the Amazon Go stores without cashiers. The company considered opening up to 3,000 additional Amazon Go locations by 2021, according to a report from Bloomberg in September 2018.
